Thread for gold sink and "novelty" ideas using metals.
Just some thoughts...
Make gold salvageable. The gold coins can then be broken down into gold ingots and turned into items such as gold swords/shields etc.
These would truly be uber "Look at me" items and everyone with a decent amount of gold would want these golden items, thus flushing alot of surplus away.
Perhaps even gold armour too. "We have gold dye!" i expect a response to be but is that really making you look "gold"?
Why not have a massive variety of armour attachments which we can craft and use at our discretion..each type of metal plating providing their own set of stats to improve our looks and efficiency. EG, cadmium plates provide +5% protection against tengu arrows or whatever.
Wear a Ruthenium plate on your chest, a nickel plate on your thighs and you would have added protection against mursaat and dwarves...the possibilities could be endless.
People like this sort of stuff...attention to detail, lots of stuff to experiment with, things to cure the boredom.
If you wanted the idea to go further, you could have different classes of armour attachments EG, level 1 plates, level 2 plates etc.
Perhaps we could even mix certain metals together to make stuff to use?
Why is everything based around iron and steel? Where is the copper, lead, tin, silver, nickel, titanium etc?
Why not have more variety in salvage materials which can be used for various things or even just to say "Oh wow!! I just salvaged 2 lumps of zirconium worth 500gold from that crappy charr staff!!"
If the thought of having many precious metals flying around doesn't appeal to you, why not have armour that slowly decays after taking damage? A simple trip to the armourer once or twice a week for repairs wouldn't hurt...would it?
Yes, alot of metals requires alot of storage and if storage gets increased in the future, we may be one step closer to making suggestions like these a reality.
Thoughts and ideas anyone?

hehe, ages ago, i left a long post on making craftable wepons/wands and jewelry, mostly with metals ect, and yeah, theres lots of possibilites
but yeah, craftable armour bits ^^
lets go mine amythyst gems, polish them up and make our armour all sparkly purple
(and powdered siler and powdered gold could make *crafted* dyes eh? )
